She works so hard to excel in class though faces difficulty with reading lessons.Efforts to improve her reading skills were interfered with following COVID-19 lockdown that led to closure of her school and all other schools in the country. IMS’s community Education Champion in Green Valley zone enrolled her in a Peer-Peer community learning support group. In the group, Maureen took part in the literacy learning sessions held during the lockdown and was able to catch up with her reading skills.
I have learnt spelling and reading words which used to be hard for me, now I’m excited of being active in our school literacy classes
With the new reading skills, Maureen hopes to do better in her academics once schools open.
